The SkyCube was a collaboration with Southern Stars. They had built a crowdfunded satellite that contributors could communicate with via twitter. This version is designed to house multiple cameras with the intention of allowing democratic access to orbital photography from space. I was hired as a consultant to collaborate with Southern Stars and Pumpkin, a CubeSat manufacturer, on the design. I then machined and assembled the components. Everything that goes into space has to be over built and pass rigorous tests. This particular device had to pass all sorts of tests from intense vibration tests to crushing vacuum tests. The device is now peacefully orbiting around our planet allowing incredible vistas to us grounded here.
